Reshad Jones was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up right off of Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta, Zone 4. He was raised by his loving grandparents who supported and encouraged Jones in everything that he’s every set his mind to. Besides his family and friends, Reshad’s biggest passions in life are football and giving back to those less fortunate than he. Jones attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, GA, from which he graduated in 2006(?). Throughout his childhood, Reshad was faced with the choice to either turn to the streets or stay focused in school. He chose the latter, which has proven to be the best decision he ever could have made for his own life. Sports became his one true outlet, and through his devotion to becoming the best athlete he could be, he was able to excel his athletic career to soaring new heights.
Upon graduating from Booker T. Washington high school, Jones earned AAAA All-State and Defensive Player of the Year honors from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Georgia Sports Writers Association as a senior. He also received an athletic scholarship (full ride?) to play football at University of Georgia in Athens, GA. In his time at UGA, he led an enormously successful football career, achieving multiple accolades for his extraordinary talents on the field. His hard work and dedication to the game did anything but go unnoticed, as he became one of the top safety prospects for the 2010 NFL Draft. Not too long after that announcement, Jones was drafted as a safety for the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and he continues to improve every year as player and as an individual.
In his time in the NFL, Reshad Jones has not only become a huge asset to the Dolphins team, but he has become quite the humanitarian as well. Jones is a part of the Miami Dolphins All-Community team, of which the players play to raise money and purchase game tickets for local charities. Outside of his football career, Jones continues to give back and has donated money to help purchase toys and meals for children and their families for the holidays. He has also gone to speak at the Broward County Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he met with a group of young male inmates to tell his own personal story and struggles that he faced growing up, and how they can just as easily improve the quality of their own lives by the choices that they make.
In an interview for the Miami Dolphins, Jones told a reporter, “Playing defensive back, you have ups and downs. You get beat sometimes, but then you can come back and make a great play. One of the most important things is not to get beat deep. You always want to keep things in front of you.” It is through this strong mindset that Reshad Jones has gotten to the point where he is now in his life and his career, and he wants nothing more than to use his story to inspire others to achieve their own dreams.
